Dr. Samith A Shetty is currently working as a Consultant Diabetologist at SPARSH Hospitals. His areas of interest include the epidemiology of diabetes and the role of information technology in diabetes, type 2 in the young and children, and Latent Autoimmune Diabetes of Adulthood (LADA). He is also interested in doing a PhD on the “Study of young Type 2 Diabetic Patients in the South Asian Population”. He has many major achievements under his belt, which include: a fellowship in epidemiology conducted by the MRC Unit, Clare College at the University of Cambridge, Cambridge Diabetes Seminar (CDS) at Cambridge University, more than 30 publications in reputed national and international peer-reviewed journals, working as a co-investigator for the Glargine vs. Premixed Analog trial, Levemir vs. Glargine, ICON study, and ORIGIN study. He also co-edited the book, ‘100 Questions and Answers on Diabetology’, published by Indian Journal of Clinical Practice (IJCP). He has also worked as an investigator in the Indian diabetes prevention program – II & III.
