Dr. Shama Shetty, a distinguished Otorhinolaryngologist and Head and Neck Surgeon, brings over 11 years of dedicated expertise to her field. She holds an MBBS from KS Hedge Medical Academy (RGUHS-2004 batch) and an MS (ENT) from KS Hegde Medical Academy, Nitte University (2012 batch). Dr. Shetty is also a Shireen Gazdar Head and Neck Fellowship awardee in 2021, having completed a one-year fellowship at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, under the guidance of Dr. Prathamesh S Pai.
Her professional journey includes serving as faculty in the Department of ENT at KMC Manipal for 8 years. Dr. Shetty is also the coordinator for Manipal Centre for Swallowing Disorders and a life member of FHNO and AOI Karnataka.
Dr. Shetty’s clinical focus spans a wide array of ENT specialties, including hearing disorders, sinus problems, head and neck benign and malignant conditions, obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome, and airway-related problems. She has expertise in diverse surgical procedures, from mastoid and micro ear surgeries to endoscopic sinus surgeries, stapedectomies, adenoidectomy, tonsillectomy, septorhinoplasty, airway surgeries, laser surgeries, microlaryngeal surgeries, and surgeries for OSAS, thyroid, parotid, and laryngeal conditions.
Recognized for her excellent communication skills and commitment to evidence-based medicine, Dr. Shetty has a head and neck fellowship from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, emphasizing her proficiency in head and neck cancer surgeries. Her contributions extend to being a co-coordinator for Manipal Centre for Swallowing Disorders, where she played a significant role in establishing and treating patients with swallowing problems.
Dr. Shetty has authored chapters in two books, published in national and international journals, and actively participated as a chairperson and speaker in various workshops and conferences.
Her areas of interest include head and neck cancer surgeries, endoscopic nasal and sinus surgeries, surgery for snoring (OSAS) and other airway surgeries, mastoid and microscopic ear surgeries, swallowing disorders, allergy disorders, and vertigo management. As a recognized undergraduate and postgraduate teacher, she is actively involved in mentoring head and neck fellows and contributes to research and administrative activities.
